The City of Woodinville invites the public to join us for a Community Tree Planting Event to help create a Miyawaki Forest in Woodinville on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

Our goal is ambitious: 300 volunteers working together to plant native trees and shrubs. We are inviting local organizations, clubs, groups, families, and individuals to be part of this effort. Whether you bring a large team or just a few volunteers, your participation will help us reach our goal and make this project a success.

What is a Miyawaki Forest?

The Miyawaki tree planting method uses dense plantings of diverse native species to quickly establish a healthy, resilient forest ecosystem. The new forest will help improve soil health, provide habitat for wildlife, reduce invasive vegetation, and create a lasting environmental asset for our community.

Event Details

DATE: Saturday, October 3, 2026
TIME: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
LOCATION: 13226 NE 177th Place, Woodinville
WEATHER: Rain or Shine!
PARKING: Carpooling is encouraged as event parking is limited.

Volunteers should wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring gardening gloves and a shovel if possible. Lunch, snacks, and water will be provided.

Volunteer Registration

Each volunteer must register individually and complete a waiver. Organizations, clubs, and groups cannot register as one through the online form. Please share the registration link with your members and ask each person to register individually. When completing the form, volunteers should indicate the organization, club, or group they are part of (if they are with a group).

Please register by September 16.

If your group has difficulty having members register individually, please email the event organizer, McKenzie Boyle the names and email addresses of your participating members. We will follow up directly with the group to provide the waiver or arrange for members to complete a paper waiver at the event.

The Miyawaki Forest is part of the future Northshore Parks & Recreation Community and Aquatic Center. The habitat restoration project will introduce a diverse mix of native vegetation designed to establish a healthy forest ecosystem and provide long-term benefits for people and wildlife.
