Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program
Commitment to Safer Streets
Woodinville’s Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program (NTCP) is a resident-driven, City-supported approach to improving safety and quality of life on our local streets.
Whether you're concerned about speeding, cut-through traffic, or pedestrian safety, the NTCP offers a collaborative, structured path to real solutions. Using a consistent, data-driven evaluation process, the City works with residents to assess issues and, where appropriate, implement long-term traffic calming measures.
Through this program, residents play an active role in identifying concerns, shaping the approach, and improving neighborhood safety.
Who Can Request Traffic Calming?
Anyone - whether you're a concerned resident or part of a neighborhood groups - can request a NTCP evaluation.
To get started, simply submit a report through the WoodinvilleWorks portal. Once submitted, we'll keep you informed throughout the process.
Note: Private streets are not eligible for the program.
What Is Traffic Calming?
Traffic calming refers to physical or visual changes to streets designed to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
In Woodinville, traffic calming focuses on residential, low-volume public streets or the places where we live, walk dogs, ride bikes, and send kids outside to play.
The City uses a variety of methods to slow vehicles and encourage safer driving in residential areas, including:
- Raised crosswalks and intersections
- Modification to the roadway, turn restrictions, and curb extensions
- Temporary and permanent radar speed signs
- Signalized pedestrian crossings
- School zone safety cameras
- Speed humps, speed cushions, speed tables
