The City of Woodinville launched its School Zone Safety Camera Pilot Program on September 1, 2026, to improve safety and reduce speeding near schools. Cameras are located on NE 195th Street between 136th Avenue NE and 130th Avenue NE.
The two-year pilot begins with a two-month warning period, followed by ongoing evaluations every six months to measure program effectiveness.

The program complements existing traffic calming and enforcement efforts to support safer streets and more walkable neighborhoods. School zone safety cameras provide consistent enforcement during arrival and dismissal times, helping reduce speeding and encourage safer driving. Communities across Washington have shown that automated enforcement can improve safety and reduce accidents near schools.
Privacy, Fairness & Accountability
The program prioritizes privacy, fairness, and equity while using data-driven tools to improve safety and help prevent crashes. All violations are reviewed in accordance under Washington State law (RCW 46.63.220):
Cameras capture only the rear of the vehicle and license plate - not vehicle occupants.
Images and data are securely stored and deleted when no longer needed.
Collected information cannot be publicly disclosed, sold, or misused.
